Jainsewa Multipurpose Charitable Foundation

Our office is right in the heart of the Chatrapati Shivaji Market Yard. We are located across units 560 to 568, which sounds like a lot of space, but it fills up fast with everything we have going on. Being in the market yard means we are surrounded by the constant noise of trucks and loaders. It’s an energetic place to be, though it can get quite dusty with all the goods moving around. We start our days very early because that’s when the market is at its peak. There is always the smell of fresh produce and diesel in the air. Inside our space, things are pretty basic. We have some heavy-duty desks and a lot of metal cupboards for our records. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find plush carpets or expensive art on the walls. It’s a working environment through and through. We usually have people dropping in without much notice, so there’s always an extra stool or two tucked under the tables. The floor is concrete and easy to sweep, which is good because of all the foot traffic. Sometimes we have to shout a bit to be heard over the noise of the tempos outside. It’s a very practical way to spend the day, being right where the action is. We don't have any big signs, just the unit numbers and our name on the door. It’s just us, doing our thing amidst the chaos.
