Down on Lohegaon Eksar Road, the traffic is always moving and we are usually watching it from the office window. It is a lively spot to have an architecture practice. We do not have a big sign or anything flashy, just the work we are doing inside the room. Mostly, it is about trying to fit everything a person wants into the space they actually have. It sounds simple but it rarely is in practice. We deal with the Lohegaon weather and the dust from the road. The office is pretty basic. We have our computers, a big table for checking prints, and way too many half-empty water bottles. It is not like those offices you see on TV. It is a bit cramped and there is always a stack of paperwork waiting for a signature. We spend a lot of time on site, which means our shoes are usually a bit muddy. When we are here on Eksar Road, we are mostly arguing over where a beam should go or how to save a bit of money on the foundation. It is just practical stuff. Clients come in, we talk about their plans, and we try to make sense of it all on paper. There is no magic to it. It is just taking the measurements and making sure the math adds up. If the drawings are clear, the guys on the site have a better chance of getting it right. That is the goal every day.
