About Hatim Glass – Building & Construction Material in Pune
Hatim Glass is right at number 47, just a short walk from the Dhankavadi Bus Stop. Being near the bus stop means there are always people around, which is nice. We work with glass, as the name suggests. It’s a delicate job and we’ve had our fair share of accidents over the years, but that’s how you learn. The shop smells like cutting oil and dust most of the time. We have all sorts of sheets stacked against the walls. You have to be careful where you walk. It’s not a place for kids to run around. We do a lot of custom cutting for windows and mirrors. People bring in their measurements on scraps of paper, and we do our best to get it right. Sometimes the edges aren't perfect on the first try, so we sand them down until they are smooth. It’s hands-on work. We don't have a fancy showroom with lights and displays. Most of the glass is just kept in the crates it arrived in until someone needs it. My father started this and now I'm the one mostly running the day-to-day. We don't do much advertising. The neighborhood knows we are here near the bus stop if they need a piece of glass replaced. It's a steady life. We close up when the sun goes down and start again the next morning when the first buses start rolling by.
