Our place is on the Haveli Hosur Main Road. It’s a busy road, so there is always a lot of dust and noise from the trucks going past. We have been here for a while now and have seen the area change quite a bit. There are more buildings now than there used to be. Our office is not anything fancy. It is just a practical space where we handle our daily business. We don't spend much time on decorating or making things look polished. It’s more about the work for us. Most mornings start with a quick cleanup of the front area because of all the road dust. Then we settle in. We know most of the people who work at the Grampanchayat, so we see a lot of familiar faces walking by. Sometimes we stand outside just to catch a bit of a breeze. The sun hits the front of the building pretty hard in the afternoons. We just draw the curtains and keep going. It is a local operation, run by local people who live nearby. We don't have any big speeches or mission statements. We just show up every morning and do the work that needs doing until it’s time to go home.
