Goyal Industries and the foundry work out of S.No.3, Plot No. 59/2 in Shanti Nagar, right near the M.I.D.C. S-Block. Being in an industrial zone like this means there is always a layer of dust on everything, but that’s just the nature of the foundry business. It’s a hot place to work, especially when the furnaces are going full tilt, but the crew here is used to it. We’ve got the machinery set up in a way that makes sense for the flow of the metalwork. Most of the guys have been here for a decade or more, and they know the sound of every machine by heart. If something sounds a bit off, they can usually tell before the gauges even show it. It’s hard work, and your hands are rarely clean at the end of the shift. We don’t have a fancy reception area or a coffee machine that does lattes. We just have a water cooler and a place to sit down for a bit when the heat gets to be too much. The yard outside is usually filled with scrap and finished parts waiting to be moved out. It looks a bit messy to an outsider, but there is a system to it all. Shanti Nagar is a busy place, and we are just one part of the noise and the smoke that keeps the local economy moving along. We just show up and get the job finished.
