Our office is located at 802 B Wing in Anand Residency, which is on S No 20/2 in Kothrud, right next to the Citypride cinema in Pune. Being next to the theater is actually pretty convenient for after work, but during the day we are focused on freight systems. It’s a lot of international shipping stuff, so we are often dealing with time zones and messy customs forms. The B wing gets some good light in the mornings, but by the afternoon it can get a bit stuffy if we don't keep the fans going. We have a lot of computers and several maps on the wall that are a bit outdated. It’s a functional space, nothing more. We aren’t a huge team, just a group of people who have been in the shipping game for a while. Sometimes the internet acts up and we all have to take a break until it comes back, which is just part of working in this part of town. Kothrud is a busy suburb and there’s always something happening outside the window. We spend our hours emailing agents and checking on ship schedules. It’s not the kind of job you talk about at parties, but it’s important for getting goods into the country. We just keep our heads down and get the manifests sorted. It’s a living and we’ve gotten pretty used to the routine of it all over the years.
