Elm Design

So we are based in Mumbai, which is a city that never really stops moving. Elm Design is just a small group of us working out of our space here in India. Being a designer in Mumbai means you are always surrounded by different colors, sounds, and constant activity. It definitely keeps you on your toes. We spend most of our hours sitting at our desks, working through different design ideas and trying to get things to look right. It is not always easy, especially when the rains hit or the commute takes forever. We don't really go for anything too polished in our own office; it is more about having a functional space where we can actually get things done. Some days we are just sketching out ideas on paper, and other days we are stuck in front of screens for hours. We deal with all sorts of design requests that come through. It is just a regular job for us, even though it involves being creative. We don't have any big speeches about what we do. We just take the work as it comes and try to finish it on time. Living in Mumbai, you learn to be practical about everything. That is how we approach the design work too. It is just about making something that works for the person who asked for it. That is basically our day-to-day life here.
