Egalitarian Education Foundation

You can find us over in Wadgaonsheri at Sainath Nagar. We are at Plot No. 102, S. No. 53/58. It is a busy part of Pune, 411014. We set up the Egalitarian Education Foundation because we saw that many people were getting left behind when it came to learning. The word "Egalitarian" is a bit of a mouthful, but it just means we want things to be fair for everyone. We are not a big institution with lots of money. We are just a small group in a regular building within the society. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy outside with the traffic from Tal Haveli, but we manage to get things done. People from around the neighborhood stop by quite often to ask questions. We don't have fancy brochures to hand out. If you want to know what we are about, you just have to come and sit with us for a while. We talk about how to make education work for regular people, not just the ones with money. It involves a lot of paperwork and dealing with local stuff, but we keep at it because it feels necessary. Our office is simple, with a few desks and many stacks of books. We are here most days. If the gate happens to be closed, just give us a shout. Someone is usually around in the back. We really like being right here in Wadgaonsheri.
