Eco Monks Foundation

Eco Monks Foundation is tucked away in Kondhawa. We are at C/O Charbhe Mukesh Vinayak, in the Sunflowersn building, near the Sunshri Society. It’s a residential part of the city, so it’s fairly quiet around here compared to the main market. The name Eco Monks sounds a bit serious, but we just liked the idea of working quietly on environmental stuff without making a big noise about it. We aren't a big organization with a fleet of cars. Most of us just walk or take the bus. Our space is filled with books, old maps, and a lot of notes about local plants and waste management. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors about how to keep the area a bit cleaner. It’s not always an easy conversation to have, but people are generally nice about it once they get to know us. We’ve lived in this part of Pune for a long time, so we know the local issues pretty well. We aren't trying to change the whole world overnight. We just want to make our own neighborhood a bit better. Sometimes we spend the whole afternoon just planning a small cleanup or a planting day. It’s slow work, but it feels right for us. We don't have a big budget or any corporate backing, just a lot of patience and some good friends in the community who help us out.
