Dtdc Courier & Cargo is situated at number 11 in Chinchwad, right inside the Hotel Golden Rock Building. It is a busy little place because there are always packages coming in and out at all hours. You can usually hear the sound of packing tape being pulled or boxes being moved around as we get everything ready for the transport trucks. People from the neighborhood come in with all sorts of things they need to send across the country, from small envelopes to heavy boxes. We spend a lot of time weighing parcels and making sure the labels are stuck on tight so nothing gets lost. The Hotel Golden Rock is a good reference point, so people rarely get lost when they are trying to find our shop. Being in Chinchwad means we are in the middle of a lot of industrial activity, and you can feel that hustle every day. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the front when several people arrive at once with big shipments, but we just take them one by one. The air usually smells like cardboard and ink. We keep a stack of extra boxes in the corner just in case someone brings something that is not packed right. It is hard work and keeps us on our feet, but seeing the relief on someone’s face when their package is finally logged in makes it worth the effort.
