As the name suggests, we deal with fruits. Most of our work involves moving produce around, which means our hours are a bit strange. We have to be up and working when the fruit markets open, often way before the sun comes up. It’s a noisy, fast business. The shop is mostly for handling the business side of things, like the orders and the payments. It smells like cardboard and sometimes a bit like whatever fruit is in season, like mangoes in the summer or grapes later on. We don't have any fancy displays or a retail counter where you can buy a single apple. Everything we do is more on the international trade side of things. It’s a lot of talking to farmers and then talking to shippers. We keep it very simple here. There are a few desks, some old chairs, and a place to make some tea. Pune is a good place for this because we are close to a lot of the growing regions. The traffic on Moledina Road can be a nightmare in the evenings, but we usually have most of our work done by then. We’re just a small group of people trying to get fresh stuff where it needs to go without too much fuss.
