Design Elements

Anand Aswale started Design Elements here in Pune. We are based in the Thakkars Kirti Apartments, specifically units 5 and 6 in Subhash Nagar. Vishrantwadi is a nice area, a bit away from the main city chaos, which we like. Our office is basically just two converted apartments where we keep all our stuff. It’s not like those fancy studios you see in magazines. We have regular desks and some old shelves filled with samples and catalogs. We do design work, mostly focusing on the elements that go into a space. It’s a lot of choosing materials and figuring out where things should go. Sometimes we spend all day just looking at different types of wood or tiles. We don't have a marketing team or anyone to make us look more important than we are. We just work with the clients who come through our door. Pune is a good city for this kind of work because people here appreciate things that are well-made. We try to be straightforward with everyone. If a project is going to take three months, we say it’ll take three months. We don't see the point in overpromising. Most days, it’s just the sound of keyboards and the occasional phone call. It’s a quiet, steady kind of life here in the apartments. We just keep doing what we know how to do without any extra drama.
