If you find yourself in Mangalwar Peth, you’ll find us on the second floor of the Bhosale Nagar building. It’s number 105. The climb up is fine unless you’re carrying a lot of interior design boards or heavy tile samples. Della Tecnica Architects & Interior Designers is basically a workshop disguised as an office. We have blueprints pinned to almost every flat surface. There’s a persistent smell of ink and maybe some old coffee. We don’t have a cleaning crew that comes in every night, so things stay where we leave them. If a pen is on the floor on Tuesday, it’s probably still there on Thursday. We spend a lot of time arguing about colors or how a staircase should curve. It’s mostly just us and the sounds of the street below. Mangalwar Peth is an old area, so there’s a lot of character outside our windows. Sometimes we just watch the people go by when we need a break from the computer screens. Our desks are old wood, and the chairs squeak a bit when you move. It isn't the kind of place where you’d see a lot of chrome or glass. It’s more about the grit and the actual drawing. We stay late quite a bit, especially when a deadline is coming up. The light at night is a bit dim, but it helps us focus. We just keep our heads down and get the designs done for whoever walks through the door.
