Sainath Mirror Industries

Sainath Mirror Industries is over in Chinchwad East. We are located in the Kamla Mansion building in Mohan Nagar, right opposite the Ganpati Temple. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows the temple. We work with glass and mirrors all day. It’s a delicate business. If you aren't careful, you end up with a lot of broken pieces and wasted money. We do cutting, edge polishing, and sometimes silvering. The shop floor is always kept very clean because even a little bit of grit can scratch a mirror. We wear gloves most of the time to avoid leaving fingerprints. People from around the neighborhood come to us when they need a mirror for a bathroom or a shop display. We also take bigger orders for furniture makers. The traffic around Mohan Nagar can be a nightmare in the evenings, so we try to get our deliveries out early in the morning. Our office is just a corner of the workshop with a desk and a couple of chairs for customers to sit while they wait. We’ve been here for a while now. The sound of the glass cutters is the background noise of our lives. It’s not a glamorous job, but there is something satisfying about seeing a perfect, clear mirror ready to be packed. We just sweep up any breaks and start on the next piece. It takes a steady hand and a bit of patience to get through the day without too many cracks. We just keep at it until the sun goes down.
