We are over here in Chinchwad, right in the D-ii Block of MIDC. If you know Pune, you know this part of town is basically just one big workshop after another. Micromatic Machine Tools Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of Plot No. 58 59/1 for some time. It is not a quiet place. There is always the sound of something being cut or moved around. Starting early is necessary because the traffic in the industrial estate gets bad if you wait too long. We have a decent-sized space across two plots, which gives us enough room to keep the machines running without everyone tripping over each other. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings or oil, which is just how it goes when you work with heavy equipment. We don't spend much time on fancy decorations or expensive office furniture. By ten in the morning, most of the guys here have grease on their hands. We just focus on the machines. Some days are long, especially when a deadline is coming up or a specific part is giving us trouble, but that is the nature of this trade. Customers usually just drop by or call to see where their order is. We don't have a big marketing team. It’s just us doing the work we know how to do. Sometimes we eat lunch together near the gate, watching the trucks go by. It is practical work for practical people.
