Dpm Printers is located at Plot No. 56/9 in the D-Ii Block of the Midc in Chinchwad, Pune. The sound of the printing presses is the first thing you hear when you walk up to the gate. It is a rhythmic, thumping noise that doesn't really stop until late in the evening. We have stacks of paper everywhere, from big rolls to cut sheets ready for the ink. The smell of the ink and the cleaning fluids is very strong, especially on days when we are running a lot of color jobs. Our hands usually have a bit of a smudge on them no matter how much we wash. Chinchwad is a busy industrial area, so there are always delivery vans trying to squeeze through the narrow gaps between the parked bikes. We have a small team here, and most of us have been doing this for years, so we can tell if a machine is acting up just by the sound it makes. The lighting inside isn't the best, but we have lamps over the inspection tables so we can check the prints properly. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and moving boxes around. When a big job is finished, there’s a sense of relief before the next one starts right up. We just keep the rollers turning and the paper moving through without making much of a scene about it.
