Calitron Calibration Laboratory

Nigdi is a busy area and we have been based at Kohinoor Arcade for a long time now. Being at Tilak Chowk means there is always noise from the street coming up to the second floor. Our lab is basically just a few rooms filled with testing equipment and benches where we sit to work on gauges and meters all day. People bring in their instruments because they need to know if the readings are actually right. We spend a lot of time looking at tiny numbers and adjusting screws or software. It is a bit tedious sometimes, but someone has to do it. The lights in the lab are quite bright which helps when you are looking at small parts. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the machines to warm up. Sometimes the lift in the building acts up so we end up taking the stairs. It is just a regular workplace where we focus on our technical tasks. We don't have a fancy reception or anything like that. Usually, there are just boxes of equipment waiting to be checked or sent back to factories. The humidity in the room has to be kept steady which can be a pain in the summer months. Most of the guys here have been doing this for years so we know where everything is kept even when it looks a bit messy to an outsider. It is not glamorous but it keeps the local industries running correctly.
