Bijlee

In the middle of the busy lanes of Budhwar Peth, you will find our shop, Bijlee. It is a small space, like most of the shops in this part of town, and we are packed to the ceiling with electrical supplies. Budhwar Peth is always crowded, so there is a constant noise of people and vehicles right outside our door. We deal with everything from wires and switches to small motors and fans. Most of our customers are local electricians or people living in the old buildings around here who need to fix a fuse or a socket. The shop has been here for a long time, and the wooden counters are worn down from years of sliding boxes across them. We don't have any fancy displays or bright signs; we just have our name painted above the entrance. It can get very hot in the afternoons, so we usually have a couple of old fans running at full speed. We know most of the other shopkeepers on this street, and we often share tea while waiting for the next customer. It is a very traditional way of doing business, where we talk to everyone and help them find the right part for their home repairs. There isn't much room to move around inside, but we know exactly where every single item is stored. It’s just a honest, busy little electrical shop in the heart of the market. We plan on staying here for a long time.
