Ask Engineers

You can find us at Plot No. 267/269/270 in Sector No. 10. We are right in the middle of Bhosari, Pune, so it gets pretty loud with all the industrial activity around here. Ask Engineers is basically a big workshop space where we deal with metal and machines all day long. The floor is usually covered in some kind of grease or metal shavings, no matter how much we sweep it. We have a few big machines that take up most of the room in the middle of the plot. Usually, there are three or four of us working on different parts at the same time. We talk over the noise of the grinders, which means we end up shouting a lot. It’s not that we’re angry, it’s just how you have to communicate here. The sector is busy, and finding a place to park a scooter can be a real headache some mornings. We have a small office tucked in the back where the fan barely works, but it’s where we keep all the drawings and the old ledgers. Sometimes the power goes out, and we all just sit outside on the steps until it comes back on. It’s a good time to catch up with the guys from the next plot over. We’ve been in this part of Pcntda for a long time, so we know the local rhythms.
