Balaji Tambe Foundation

We’re located out in Karla, which is part of the Maval Taluka in the Pune district. Our foundation is based at Atma Santulana Village, spanning across ground numbers 306 to 312. It’s quite different from being in the middle of a big city. The air is a bit clearer out here and things move at a slightly slower pace, which we appreciate. The Balaji Tambe Foundation has its home in this quiet spot. We have a fair amount of space, but it’s mostly filled with the day-to-day things we need to keep the foundation going. It’s a very natural environment, and the surroundings are quite peaceful compared to the busy streets of Pune. We spend a lot of time outdoors or in simple rooms that don't have much in the way of modern office luxury. Most of the folks around here know the village well. We don’t go in for big titles or complicated hierarchies. Everyone just pitches in where they can. It’s a lot of manual work and staying organized without the help of fancy software or big teams. We like the honesty of working close to the land in Karla. It makes the work of the foundation feel a lot more real and connected to the people living around us.
