Baker Gauges India Ltd.

Our place is out on Nagar Road, specifically at 33-1-2. It’s a busy stretch of road, and there’s always a lot of dust from the construction nearby. Baker Gauges India Ltd. is quite a large name, but here on the ground, it’s just a lot of people in blue overalls and a lot of very precise machinery. The building is solid and has that industrial feel to it, with high ceilings and those big metal doors that groan when you open them in the morning. We spend a lot of time looking at very small numbers and making sure everything is exactly where it should be. The office part is separate, but you can still hear the shop floor from there. We’ve got a lot of history in this location, and some of the guys have been working these same machines for twenty years. It’s not a place for sitting around; there’s always a gauge that needs testing or a shipment going out to a factory somewhere else in the country. The tea stall across the road is where most of us end up during the breaks. It’s a straightforward way of making a living, and we don’t try to make it sound like anything else. It’s just work, day in and day out, making sure the measurements are right and the trucks are loaded on time for the afternoon departures.
