Our place is located at 155 G.N. Chetty Road. T.Nagar is a very busy part of Chennai, as just about everyone knows. We’ve been here at Ayurvedasramam for a long time, and the building itself has a lot of history to it. It smells like dried herbs and traditional oils for most of the day. People come in from all over looking for old-fashioned things they can’t find in the big supermarkets. We aren't a fancy modern hospital or a polished corporate office. It’s a very traditional setup. The building has seen many seasons and the walls show it. We keep the wooden shelves stocked with whatever people are looking for. Sometimes the traffic on G.N. Chetty Road is so loud you can hardly hear yourself talk to the customers, but inside it usually feels a bit calmer. We have our regulars who have been coming to see us for years, sometimes even decades. They know exactly where everything is kept. We don't do much in the way of advertising; people just find us or hear about us from their neighbors and family members. It’s a very practical way to run a business. We spend our mornings checking the new stock and talking to folks who drop by with questions. The heat in Chennai can be really tough in the summer, so we keep the old fans going all day long. It’s a humble spot, nothing too grand or impressive. We just focus on the herbal side of things and try to be as helpful as we can. The floors are old stone and the wooden counters have plenty of scratches, but it feels right for what we do. It’s just how a local place in T.Nagar should be, really.
