Being in an industrial estate means it’s always a bit loud and there is a lot of movement around us. It suits the way we work, though. We aren't the type of architects who sit in a quiet, sterile room all day. There is always the sound of trucks or people working nearby, which keeps us energized. The office is pretty basic. We have our drawing tables and some computers, and usually a lot of dust from the neighborhood. We spend a lot of time working through technical drawings and making sure everything fits the specific requirements of the Mumbai buildings we work on. It’s a lot of grit and hard work. We don't have a glossy brochure to hand out. Usually, we just show people what we’ve been working on recently on our screens. The streets around Nana Peth are tight and busy, and our work often reflects that need to make the most out of every square inch. We’ve been here for a while and we know the quirks of the area. It’s a practical place for a practical firm. We just focus on getting the drawings right so the contractors know exactly what to do when they get to the site. There is no magic to it, just a lot of measuring and planning.
