Up on Vetal Hill in Kothrud, you will find us working. We are the Automotive Research Association of India, though most people just call us ARAI. Our address is Survey No. 102, which is right off Paud Road. It is a relatively quiet spot compared to the noisy city center of Pune. We have a lot of different labs and testing facilities spread out across this area. This is where we check cars, bikes, and engines to see if they follow the necessary rules and standards. There is a lot of technical equipment and big machines used for testing things like emissions and safety. The people working here are mostly engineers and technicians who really know their machines. It is not like a regular office job where you sit at a desk all day. Some days are spent looking at computer data, and other days are spent out in the testing sheds with the vehicles. We have been here for a long time, helping the industry figure out how to make vehicles better for the road. It is a lot of responsibility, but we just take it one test at a time. The hill is a nice place to work because it stays a bit cooler than the rest of the city. We see the same faces every day and we have become a close community. We do not sell products to the public. Our job is more about the science and the technical details.
