Apna Gharkul Foundation

We’re located in Flat 102, on the A-Wing of the Sai Baba Ashirwad building. It’s right near the police station in Sector 1E of Kalamboli. Having the police station so close makes the whole area feel pretty safe, though it’s always busy with people coming and going. Apna Gharkul Foundation is just our way of trying to give back a little bit to the society we live in. We aren't professional writers or marketing experts, so we don't have any polished speeches or mission statements to give you. We just work out of this flat and try to help where we can. The rooms are filled with boxes and papers most of the time because we’re always in the middle of some project or another. It’s a lived-in space, not some corporate showroom. Kalamboli is a growing place, and we’ve seen it change a lot since we first started our work here. We aren't here to impress anyone with our office. We just want to make sure the work gets done correctly. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a lot to do, and other times we’re out in the neighborhood meeting people and seeing what's happening on the ground. It’s practical work, often messy and tiring, but it’s what we chose to do with our lives. We don't have a big board of directors or anything like that. It’s just a few of us making decisions over tea in the small kitchen area. It works for us, and it seems to work for the people who come to us for help.
