Amit Spares

Amit Spares is tucked away at 12, Kauvery Apartment, which is a bit different from having a big storefront on a main road. People sometimes have trouble finding us at 896 the first time they come by, but once they know the spot, they just walk right in. The space is pretty packed with shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We keep all sorts of spare parts in plastic bins and old cardboard boxes. It’s a bit of a maze, but we usually know exactly which corner holds what part. Most of the day is spent answering the phone or looking through catalogs to match a specific part number someone needs for their machine or car. It gets a bit dusty because of all the metal components, and there's always that faint smell of grease and oil in the air. We don't have much of a waiting area, just a couple of stools and the main counter where the ledger stays. It’s a quiet enough place until a big delivery arrives and we have to find room for more stock. We try to keep things organized, but when you have thousands of small bolts and gaskets, it’s a constant battle. Most of our regulars are local mechanics or people who like to fix their own stuff at home. It’s a simple operation, just us and a lot of metal parts. We spend a lot of time double-checking lists so nobody goes home with the wrong size of bolt or a filter that doesn't fit correctly.
