Akurdi Meternety Hospital

Being located on the Old Pune-Mumbai Highway Road makes for a very long day sometimes. Akurdi Meternety Hospital is right near the Akurdi Market, so there is never a dull moment. You can hear the horns honking from the highway all day long, and the dust from the road is something we are always fighting. We’ve got a small team here, and most of us have been working in Akurdi for a long time. The hospital itself is a straightforward place. We deal with maternity cases mostly, so there is a lot of waiting around for things to happen. It isn't a shiny new building with glass walls, but it’s sturdy and it serves the people who live around here. Sometimes we run out of tea in the breakroom or the files get a bit messy on the desk, but we manage. People find us easily because we are so close to the market landmarks. We see a lot of familiar faces from the neighborhood. It’s a lot of hard work, especially when the night shift starts and the highway traffic finally thins out a bit. We don't really do anything fancy here, just the regular stuff that needs doing for the families who come in. It’s just a normal part of life in Akurdi, being stuck between the busy highway and the local market stalls.
