Akshay Landge Foundation

We are over in Mangalwar Peth in Satara. The office is in Radhey Apartment, B wing, flat number one. It’s on the ground floor, which is handy because we don’t have to deal with stairs when we are carrying boxes of supplies. Akshay Landge Foundation is run out of this small flat. It’s got two main rooms and a small kitchen area where we keep the kettle. The paint is a bit faded in the hallway, but the rooms where we work are tidy enough. Satara is a nice place to be, and Mangalwar Peth is a busy little area with lots of small shops nearby. We often hear the local vendors calling out their prices in the mornings. Inside, we have a few wooden desks and some plastic crates for organizing files. We don’t really have a big budget for office decor, so it’s mostly just calendars and a few pens in old jars. We spend our time answering emails and talking to people who come by for help or advice. It’s a very local feel. We know the people in the next apartment and they know us. Most days it’s just quiet work with the radio playing softly in the background. We usually wrap up around six and head out. There’s no big corporate vibe here. It’s just us doing what we can from a small apartment in a busy part of town. It works for us and we’ve been here a while.
