Akshay Design

Akshay Design is tucked away at 28/401 in Lokmanya Nagar. We are part of the Samarth Housing Society in the Navi Peth area. It’s right off LBS Road and very close to the Dandekar Bridge. It’s a bit more of a residential setting than some other businesses, which makes it feel a bit more relaxed. We work out of this space every day, surrounded by the usual sounds of the housing society—kids playing or people heading out for groceries. Our work area is filled with drawings, samples, and whatever projects we are currently messing with. It’s not a pristine studio. There are scraps of paper and pens everywhere. We find that we work better when things are a bit lived-in. Being near Dandekar Bridge is handy for getting across town, though the traffic there can be a real headache during rush hour. We’ve lived and worked in Navi Peth for a long time. It’s home for us. We don’t have a big sign out front or anything. Most people find us because they live nearby or someone told them where to look. We start our mornings quite early, usually with the sun coming through the window, and we keep at it until the light fades. It’s a simple way of living and working. We just focus on the designs we have in front of us and try to get them right.
