Javid started this small shop in Ladhoo Khrew because he wanted to stay close to home in the Khrew area. It’s a simple setup with just the basic tools he needs to get the job done. Most days, you’ll find him here from early morning till the sun starts going down over Srinagar. The shop isn’t very big, but there is enough room for a few chairs and a small bench for people waiting. It gets a bit cold in the winter months, so he keeps a small heater running near the door. People from the neighborhood stop by not just for a haircut, but sometimes just to say hello or talk about the weather. He doesn't have a big staff, usually it’s just him or maybe one other person helping out on busy Saturdays. The mirrors have been there since the day he opened, and they’ve seen a lot of faces over the years. You can find us right on the main path through Ladhoo. We don't really do anything fancy, just standard cuts and shaves for the local men and boys. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use the manual clippers, but life goes on.
