Aalimah Foundation

Aalimah Foundation is located in Pingle, which is near Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir. We are right near the Higher Secondary School, so we hear the school bell and the kids playing all day long. Our place is under the care of Ghnabibhat. If you are familiar with the 192301 area, you know it is a place where everyone is quite close-knit. The office is just a simple building that doesn't stand out much. It is not polished or modern. We have some old desks and chairs, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint. But it works for what we need. Pulwama is a beautiful place, though things can be a bit unpredictable at times. We don't have any big corporate plans or a polished image. Most of our day is spent talking to the locals who walk past the school to come see us. It’s very much a grassroots thing. We sit and drink tea and talk about what's going on in the neighborhood. The secondary school being so close means there is always energy around us. We don't use any complicated systems to run the foundation. We just keep our records in books and talk to people face-to-face. It is a very old-fashioned way of doing things, but in a village like Pingle, it is the only way that really makes sense. We are just part of the community here, nothing more and nothing less.
