Patekar Bricks

Down in Garage Nagar, specifically in Ward No.3 of Wardha, is where you’ll find Patekar Bricks. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here but we like the space. We’ve got a large yard where we stack the bricks to dry out. It’s a lot of manual labor, honestly. Every day we're out there, either mixing or stacking or loading up tractors. The ground is always a bit muddy if the water isn't managed right. My family has been doing this for a bit. We don't use any high-tech stuff, just the old ways that work. People from around the district come by when they’re putting up a new shed or maybe a small house. We keep things pretty simple. There’s a small shed where we keep the records and escape the sun for a bit. Wardha gets very hot, so we usually start early in the morning before the heat gets too bad. By mid-afternoon, we’re usually slowing down. You won’t find any fancy brochures here. We just show you what we’ve got in the stacks. Sometimes the quality of the clay changes a bit, so we have to adjust. It's just honest work in the dirt and heat. We’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the seasons and how it dictates when we can make the most bricks.
