Vels Fabrication

Vels Fabrication is over in Thanthai Periyar Nagar in the Machuvadi area. You can find us at No. 647/A. It’s a typical fabrication shop with iron bars and welding sets scattered around. There’s usually a pile of scrap metal in the corner that we sort through once a week. I spend my days wearing a heavy mask to protect my eyes from the sparks. It’s tough on the back, leaning over the worktables all day, but it’s what we know how to do. We don’t have a fancy sign, just the name painted on the wall. Most of our work comes from people in Machuvadi who need a gate fixed or a simple frame built for their roof. We don't use high-end marketing. People just see the sparks flying and stop in to ask for a quote. We write the prices down on scraps of paper. It’s a dusty place, and the sound of the grinder is constant. Sometimes we work out on the street if the piece is too big to fit inside the shop. We don’t have many employees, just a couple of guys who are good with their hands. We drink our tea from the shop next door and keep at it until the sun goes down. It’s not a glamorous life, but we take pride in making things that last. No big promises, just solid iron work.
