Union Steel Company

Union Steel Company sits right at 43/4 on Aranthangi Road. We are directly opposite the Indian Oil Petrol Bunk, which is a good landmark if you are trying to find the place. It is a heavy-duty environment here. There are always trucks pulling in and out, and the sound of steel clanking is constant. The yard is big and mostly filled with different types of metal. It gets quite hot under the tin roof during the summer months. We wear thick boots and spend the day moving stock around. The office is just a small room in the corner where we keep the ledger and the phone. It is dusty work, and there is no point in wearing nice clothes. Most of the guys have been here for years and they know the inventory by heart. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just talk to the people who show up or call. The petrol bunk across the road is where we usually go for a quick break. Aranthangi Road is busy, so there is always something to watch while we work. It is a simple operation. We buy steel, we store it, and we sell it. There isn't much more to the story than that. The gate stays open from morning until the sun goes down. It is hard work, but it keeps us busy every single day.
