You can find us at Door Number 1790-1 on Marungapuri Road in Puthanatham. It is a bit of a trek for some, but for the people living right here, it’s just around the corner. The office sits right on the main road, so there is always noise from the passing vehicles. We have been working out of this space for a while now. The walls are a bit faded and we have a few calendars hanging up to keep track of the days. Our main thing is running the local chits for the community. It involves a lot of sitting and waiting for people to drop by with their payments. We have a big heavy desk where we do all the writing. Everything is done in physical books because that’s how we have always done it. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a bit messy, and people track mud into the office. We just mop it up and keep going. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of counting and double-checking numbers. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. There is no corporate feeling here at all. It is just a small room in Puthanatham where we handle the money and keep the records for the folks on Marungapuri Road. We open up in the morning and stay until the sun goes down and the work is finished.
