You can find us at No 14/1 on Taluk Office Road in Aranthangi. It’s right near the government buildings, so it gets quite busy around lunchtime. Samsara Vegetarian is a straightforward kind of place. We don't serve meat, just good vegetable dishes that we know how to cook. The kitchen starts early, usually before the sun is even up. We have to get the rice and the lentils going. There's a lot of steam and the sound of pressure cookers whistling throughout the morning. Our staff is mostly local people from around Aranthangi. We've known each other a long time. The dining area is simple. We have metal plates and cups because they last forever and are easy to wash. We don't spend money on expensive menus or glossy photos. If you want to know what’s cooking, you can just look in the pots. Sometimes we run out of a certain dish early because it was popular that day. We can't really help that. We just make what we can. The fans on the ceiling hum all day to keep the heat down. It’s a hot job, but we like the routine of it. We take our breaks in the late afternoon when the lunch rush dies down. We sit out back and talk for a bit before getting ready for the evening. It’s just how we run things here.
