Arun Hardwares and Marbles is located out in the Pudukkottai district area, specifically near Trungar Phata in Vasai East. It’s a bit of a weird address if you look at it on a map, but locals find us just fine. The yard is full of marble slabs and bags of cement and various hardware bits. It’s heavy work, and our backs usually ache by the time we close up for the evening. We spend most of our time moving things around to show people the different patterns in the stone. There’s always dust in the air, no matter how much we sweep. The shop itself is pretty basic. We have shelves stacked high with tools and plumbing supplies, and it’s a bit of a maze sometimes. If someone asks for a specific bolt, we usually have to dig through a few bins to find it. We aren't a big showroom with shiny floors; we are a working hardware store. Customers come in with grease on their hands or mud on their boots, and that’s fine with us. We talk about the weather and how the construction projects around town are going. It’s a simple business, really. We buy stuff, we sell stuff, and we try to make sure people get what they actually need for their repairs. It’s a noisy, dusty life near Trungar Phata, but it keeps us busy and the community moving along. We just keep the gates open and wait for the next truck to arrive.
