Our office is up on the second floor of Haji Nka Palace, over on South 4th Street. If you know Pudukkottai well, you know the building. It’s 3644-1, 2. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it’s quiet once you get inside. We have been managing chit funds here for a while. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and the ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking sound when it’s on high, but it keeps us cool. We spend most of our time looking at paperwork and talking to people who come in to pay their dues. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. We don't have a giant staff, just a few of us who know the routine inside and out. People from the market nearby often drop in. We try to keep things clear so nobody gets confused about their payments. It’s not a complicated setup, just a local business trying to help folks save their earnings together. Sometimes the rain hits the windows hard during the monsoon, and we have to move the desks back a bit. That's just how life is in this part of town. We are just regular people doing a regular job, day in and day out. No fancy talk, just the numbers.
