Kannan Hospital

We are over on Santhanathapuram 3rd Street. It’s a relatively quiet street compared to some of the main roads in town, which is nice for the patients who stay with us. The hospital isn't a massive complex; it’s more of a neighborhood fixture. People around here know the building well. We have a small entrance where the receptionist sits, usually surrounded by a few ledgers and a telephone that rings quite a bit. The rooms are basic but they serve their purpose. We spend a lot of time talking to the families who come in because everyone seems to know everyone else in this part of Santhanathapuram. Sometimes the street gets blocked if a delivery truck is dropping things off at the shop next door, but it usually clears up fast. We’ve got a small area out front where people can park their bikes. Inside, the floors are mopped every morning and evening, giving the place that clean, soapy smell. It’s not a fancy corporate hospital with glass walls. It’s just a solid brick building where we do our daily work. The staff mostly lives nearby, so they don’t have much of a commute. We’ve seen kids grow up and bring their own families in here over the years. It’s just that kind of place where things stay steady and the routine doesn’t change much from one year to the next.
