So we are out here in Kannanipatti village. It is a bit of a drive to get to us from the main town in Pudukkottai. Our place is at 1.28 in the village area, near the Kulathupatti post. Life is quiet in this part of Thirumayam. Most days we are just busy with the daily upkeep of the property. We have some rooms and a bit of space around. It is not like a big city hotel where everything is automated. We do things by hand mostly. If a bulb goes out, one of us goes and changes it. We talk to the neighbors and sometimes buy what we need from the local market. The air is fresh though. You hear the birds more than you hear cars. We’ve had this setup for a while now. Guests who find their way here are usually looking for some peace. We don't have fancy flyers or a big neon sign. It is just the building and us. We make sure there is enough water and that the rooms are aired out. The village path can be a bit dusty when it hasn't rained. But that's just how it is in the countryside. We spend our afternoons sitting in the shade when the work is done. It’s a basic operation but it works for us and the people who visit. Just a simple life in Kannanipatti for those traveling through the Pudukkottai district.
