New Fort Impex

New Fort Impex is over on Ayyanarpuram Third Street. It’s a fairly straightforward place. We handle a variety of items for import and export from this small office. The street itself is mostly residential with a few other businesses like ours mixed in. It’s not a huge operation, just a few of us making sure the goods move from point A to point B. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking the latest shipping rates. The office has a few old desks and some filing cabinets that have seen better days, but they do the job. We don’t have a big fancy sign outside, just a small one so people can find us. Sometimes the local tea stall guy comes by with drinks, which is the highlight of the afternoon. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a shipment is going to be late, we just tell people rather than making up excuses. We’ve found that being direct works better in the long run. The weather around here can get pretty humid, so we keep the windows open to get a bit of a breeze while we work. It’s a lot of manual tracking and double-checking lists to make sure nothing gets missed. We aren't trying to change the world, just doing our part in the trade business and making a living for ourselves and our families. It’s quiet and steady work.
