Lakmie Bricks

We are out here at No: 279/1 in Koundanpatti, which is part of Illuppur Taluk in Pudukkottai. Lakmie Bricks has been here for a while now. Most days start pretty early because of the sun. It gets hot quickly in this part of Tamil Nadu, so we try to get the mixing and molding done before noon if we can. The yard is usually full of red dust and stacks of bricks waiting to go out. It’s not a fancy setup, just a practical one. My family and a few local guys handle the work. We spend a lot of time checking the kilns and making sure everything is drying right. Sometimes the rain messes with our schedule, which is always a bit of a headache. Dealing with trucks coming in and out of the Koundanpatti area is just part of the daily routine. We know most of the people around here, and they know where to find us. It’s a lot of physical labor, moving heavy stuff around and making sure the bricks are solid for the local builders. We don’t have a big office or anything, just the site and a small shed where we keep the books. People usually just drop by the address when they need something or want to talk about an order. It’s a quiet life mostly, just focusing on the work at hand and getting things ready for whatever project is happening next in Pudukkottai. It is hard work, but we are used to it.
