Out here in Thondamanatham Village, life moves a bit differently than in the main town of Puducherry. Reil Electricals India is right in the middle of the Villianur Commune area. It’s a lot of metal, wires, and electrical components spread out on big workbenches. The sun gets really hot in this part of India, so the fans are always spinning fast overhead. We deal with electrical parts all day, so there is a lot of testing and checking connections. Most of the workers come from the nearby villages and we’ve known each other for years. It’s not a shiny corporate office; it’s a functional factory where things get built and shipped out. You might find some grease on the floor or a stack of old ledgers on a wooden desk. We have a schedule to keep, but we always find time for a break when the tea man comes around. The road leading to the village can be a bit bumpy, but the trucks manage to get through every day. We just focus on putting the pieces together correctly. It’s steady work and we take it one day at a time. The sounds of the workshop are just part of the background now, like the birds chirping outside in the fields surrounding the village. We like the quietness of the village life compared to the noisy city center. It makes the workday feel a bit more peaceful even when we are busy with a lot of orders.
