Oviya Super Market

We are located at number 75 on Villianur Main Road in the Reddiarpalayam area. Oviya Super Market isn't the biggest store in Kavery Nagar, but we try to keep the essentials on hand. The front window gets a lot of sun in the afternoon, so we have to be careful about what we put on display there. Working here involves a lot of checking dates on milk and bread and making sure the fridge is actually staying cold. The tiles on the floor are a bit chipped in places where we dropped heavy crates. I usually handle the cash drawer while my cousin helps people find what they are looking for. It gets a bit chaotic on the weekends when everyone is off work and trying to get their grocery shopping done at the same time. We have a small radio behind the counter that plays local stations, which helps pass the time when it's quiet. The shelves are made of metal and they rattle a bit when the big trucks go by on the main road. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and see who comes through the door. It’s honest work and it keeps us connected to everyone in the neighborhood. Some days the delivery guys are late and we have to wait around, but that’s just life in the retail business. We keep going regardless.
