Marimuthu Store

Marimuthu Store has been at 45 Muthandikuppam for quite a while now. If you live around Perperiyankuppam, you probably walk past our front door most days without thinking much about it. It’s a basic shop, really. We open up the shutters early when the air is still a bit cool before the sun gets too high. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves full of the things people need to get through their week. We spend a lot of time checking our stock and making sure things are where they belong. Sometimes the delivery trucks block the narrow part of the road and we have to help them move things quickly so traffic does not back up too far. It gets dusty in the afternoons, so there is always a broom leaning against the counter. We know most of the people who come in by their first names or at least by what they usually buy. It is not a fancy place with bright lights or anything like that. Just a simple store in a busy part of town where the floors are a bit worn from everyone walking on them. We do not have a big team, just a few of us here keeping the place running and making sure the lights stay on. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside on the stools until it comes back. That is just how it is here in Muthandikuppam, and we are fine with that.
