L.G. Balakrishnan & Bros Ltd.

We are the Lub Division for L.G. Balakrishnan & Bros Ltd., and you can find us at No. 19 in Muthu Nagar. This is in the Muthrayarpalayam area of Puducherry, which is a bit of a distance from the main beaches and the French Quarter. Our daily routine involves a lot of handling of lubricants and heavy containers. The sun in Puducherry can be very intense, and our workspace gets quite hot in the middle of the day. We usually start our shifts quite early to avoid the worst of the heat while we are moving stock around. The air in here always smells a bit like oil and industrial grease, but we don't mind it much anymore. We have a steady flow of trucks coming in to pick up supplies, and the yard can get a bit congested when two or three arrive at the same time. We don't have any polished showrooms or air-conditioned offices for people to wait in. It is a working warehouse with concrete floors and high metal shelves. Most of the guys here have been doing this for a long time, so we have our own way of organizing things that might look confusing to an outsider. We just focus on getting the right drums and bottles loaded up so they can get to where they are needed. It is honest, heavy work that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday every week.
