Grand Market

Grand Market is located at 350, East Coast Road in Pudupattinam. Being on the ECR means we see a lot of different people, from locals living in the village to people traveling between the bigger cities. The road is long and straight, and the sea isn't too far away, so we sometimes get a bit of a salty breeze in the evenings. Our building is a wide one with a lot of open space inside to hold all the different things we keep in stock. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just big ceiling fans that spin fast to keep the air from getting too stagnant. The floor is made of simple grey tiles that we sweep out a few times a day because of the sand that blows in from the road. We have rows of shelves that are mostly filled with everyday items. It is a bit of a maze sometimes, especially when we get a new shipment and haven't put everything away yet. There is a small counter near the front where we sit and wait for customers. We know most of the people who live nearby by their first names. It is a relaxed place to work, even when it gets busy on the weekends with the travelers stopping by. We just take things as they come and try to keep the shelves from looking too empty.
