Gopal Department Store

Gopal Department Store is at 87, Sorapet. This is near Villupuram. It’s a nice little corner of the world. We’ve been at number 87 for as long as I can remember. The building is old but it stays cool in the heat. Being near Villupuram means we get people coming from the surrounding villages. Sorapet is a quiet place where people know each other. Gopal Department Store is just the local shop for the folks around here. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. The shelves are always full of whatever we could get that week. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us working the floor. It’s a lot of standing and talking to neighbors. We like it that way. The street outside is narrow, so parking can be a bit of a pain. But most people just walk or come on their bikes. We open up when the sun comes up and close when it gets dark. It’s a simple rhythm. We don't have any corporate goals or big plans. We just want to keep the doors open at 87, Sorapet. It’s a comfortable place to spend the day. If you need something, you just come and ask. That’s how we’ve always done it here and it works.
