Alamu Ice Cream

Our shop, Alamu Ice Cream, is right at 67, Rediyar Mill Bus Stop in Maharajapuram. If you are in Koliyanur, you probably know where the mill is. We are located right there where the buses stop, which is convenient for people waiting around. It gets very warm during the day, so people come in to escape the heat for a few minutes. We have a couple of big freezers and a few plastic chairs for customers. It’s not a large place, but it does the job. My family helps out with running the shop. We have different flavors in the freezer, mostly the common ones that everyone likes. We don't try to be too modern or anything. The floor is just plain tiles and we keep a fan going to stay cool. Sometimes the bus drivers stop by for a quick cup of ice cream when they have a break. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but people still find us. It’s a steady routine of cleaning, stocking, and serving. We get the new supplies every few days to keep things fresh. It’s hard work, especially when the power goes out and we have to worry about the ice cream melting. We just handle it as it comes. It’s a simple life and we are happy to be here in Maharajapuram.
