V.K. General Store

V.K. General Store is situated on Leader Road, which is part of the busy Station Road area in Allahabad City. We are right across the street from the Sharda Shyam Lough. Being so close to the station means there is a constant stream of people coming and going. You hear the trains and the station announcements if the wind is blowing the right way. The shop is a bit small and it can get quite cramped when we have a lot of stock coming in at once. We do our best to keep things in order, but it is a lot of work for a small space. Allahabad gets very hot in the summer months, so we spend a lot of time trying to stay cool while waiting for customers to stop in. Most of the people who come to us are either travelers looking for a quick snack or locals who live in the back streets of Leader Road. We have been here long enough that the shop feels like a part of the landscape. It is not a polished place, just a regular store with a wooden counter and shelves that go up to the ceiling. The noise from the rickshaws and buses outside never really stops, but it is just part of the day here. We keep a good supply of the usual things like pulses, soaps, and snacks. It is a simple business run by regular people who just want to be helpful to the neighborhood.
